How Supermajority Is Celebrating This VP Announcement Day

Back in March, we called for the then-remaining Democratic presidential candidates — Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders — to affirm their commitment to gender equity by running with a woman Vice President. Just days later, Biden pledged to do just that, and today he made good on that promise: He’s running with Senator Kamala Harris.

This is a big deal. Only two other women have ever been the Vice Presidential nominee on a major-party ticket before. No other women of color have. So while we know the days ahead will be tough — from combatting the inevitable sexist, racist comments made about this candidate to doing everything we can to make sure she’s elected — today, here at Supermajority, we’re celebrating this historic achievement.
