Why is Supermajority Education Fund going on a national bus tour?
Supermajority Education Fund hopes to build a grassroots community of 2 million people of all backgrounds, races, and ages committed to women’s equality. Women in this country are angry but they’re also motivated — they don’t want to sit on the sidelines. Women from Hampton, VA to Las Vegas, NV and everywhere in between and around are responding to this moment in our country and raising their hands and saying, “I want to do more.”
We want to meet these women where they are and provide authentic, on-the-ground connections, training, and education. We will also introduce Majority Rules – the Fundamental Values Critical to Achieving Women’s Equality. It’s our vision, informed by tens of thousands of women, for how we live, work and rise together.
We also want those in power to hear from the women in our community — which now spans all 50 states. On the bus tour we will connect women all over the country with Congresswomen, activists and other leaders — in-person and via livestream — to discuss the changes they need to see. At some events, we’ll also connect members with presidential candidates.
What are the Majority Rules?
Majority Rules is our vision – informed by over 75,000 women across the country – for how women can live, work and rise together. Majority Rules, developed by the Supermajority Education Fund, will be the standard to which we expect our leaders – in government, in society, everywhere – to measure up to and against. You can learn more about the rules here.
Where is the bus going?
You can find the full list of planned stops, and RSVP for events, here.
I can’t make it to any of the bus tour stops. Can I still participate?
We have scheduled a virtual bus tour stop on September 23 at 8:30 pm ET that any member can join. You can RSVP here.
I don’t live on the route. Can the bus tour add a special pit stop to my state or city?
Unfortunately our locations are locked in. We will have a virtual bus tour stop on September 23 that members all over the country can join. You can register for that here. In the meantime, we are so excited about the work you are doing on the ground in your home state and hope to visit a city near you in the future!
Can you share the time/location of the specific event I plan to attend?
We will be sending a confirmation email with the exact location and other important details about each event to everyone who RSVPs online ahead of time. If you do not receive an email with those details, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line – ‘Requesting Event Details – [CITY NAME]’ and we will get you the info that you need!
Are men, gender nonbinary, and/or other people who don’t identify as women welcome at these events?
Yes — everyone who shares our values is welcome, regardless of gender identity! Anyone who wants to do the work to fight for gender equity and a woman’s right to live the life she wants is welcome.
Will the events be ADA accessible?
We are trying to ensure every stop is accessible and the accessibility of every venue is noted in each event’s description. If you have a specific need at an event, or want to check if a specific location is accessible, please contact email@example.com.
Are you endorsing any of the candidates who will be at bus tour events?
The candidates joining us on our bus tour are doing so in order to connect with and hear from American women. We are not focused on endorsing candidates at this time, but rather on making sure the issues women care about are included in the broader conversation..
To do this, we have worked with our members to develop Majority Rules — a gender equity agenda to mobilize women to fight for the power and representation that we deserve. This bus tour aims to spread this agenda across the country and train women to demand action regarding the agenda’s goals.
Can I volunteer with Supermajority?
The best ways to get involved with Supermajority are to:
- Join us on our Supermajority Education Fund national bus tour! We’re hosting events in 14 states (plus D.C.) where we’ll meet with women like you across the country at union halls, small businesses, college campuses, in living rooms and online. We’ll also host a virtual stop for those who don’t live on the route or can’t otherwise make it to our events in person.
- Sign up to become a member of Supermajority (if you haven’t already) so we can let you know as soon as we’re ready to mobilize volunteers like you to help our mission to launch the largest woman-to-woman voter contact program. It’s totally free to join.
- Join an upcoming member call. Past calls have included trainings on how to host a house party and a conversation between our co-founder Alicia Garza and author Ibram X. Kendi on his new book ‘How to be an Antiracist.’
- Pledge to support the Majority Rules here our values-based agenda for how women can live, work, and rise together and then share it with 5 friends.
