Our Endorsement

We are endorsing the Biden-Harris ticket in this election because they will unite our country, bring compassionate leadership and intersectional policies to the White House, and begin to heal our nation after the disastrous, harmful, and racist presidency of Donald Trump.

Both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have a record of centering women throughout their careers in public service. They have pledged to expand access to healthcare and childcare, protect our reproductive health rights, and work to end violence against women. With this Democratic ticket, we will have champions for equality in the White House who will address systemic racism and the unique challenges facing women of color — including inequality in our voting, housing, and employment. And they both have pushed the country and the Democratic Party to embrace and fight for the rights of LGBTQ people. We will continue to expect and demand that the Biden-Harris ticket and their future administration address the issues that matter most to women and advance policies that center women, and women of color in particular.

How Do The 2020 Presidential Hopefuls Measure Up To The Majority Rules?

With the presidential race narrowed, we took a look at the records of presumed nominees and how they measure up to the Majority Rules (below). We gave the candidates a thumbs up or thumbs down based on their records and campaign promises within the framework of each Majority Rule. (Spoiler Alert: Donald Trump does poorly.)

Our Lives Are Safe.

We live free of fear, intimidation
and violence at home, at work
and in our neighborhoods—no
matter where we’re from, who
we love or how we identify.

JOE BIDEN: 👍🏽

Joe Biden has committed to a number of policies that will protect women and their families from violence at home, work, and in their communities.

DONALD TRUMP: 👎🏽

Donald Trump has employed hateful and dangerous rhetoric, refuses to address police brutality, rolled back protections for survivors of domestic violence,  and has been accused by dozens of women of sexual misconduct.

Our Bodies Are Respected.

The health care system takes
our needs seriously, from
treatment to research to
women making decisions
about if and when to start a family.

JOE BIDEN: 👍🏽

While Joe Biden has not always been a pro-choice champion, he has changed his policy positions after listening and learning from reproductive justice advocates and is now a strong supporter of women’s reproductive freedom and every woman’s right to make decisions about their bodies.

DONALD TRUMP: 👎🏽

Donald Trump has fought to make all healthcare more difficult to access and has committed harm to the reproductive rights of women through anti-choice policies and action throughout his presidential tenure. Donald Trump also has a long history of making sexist comments about women and their appearances.

Our Work Is Valued.

We are paid equally for our work
and get promoted equally too.
The jobs primarily done by
women—from teaching to
caregiving—are valued and
supported. All women can retire
with dignity and enjoy the life they
worked hard for.

JOE BIDEN: 👍🏽

Joe Biden is pro-union and has indicated support for minimum wage workers, the nearly two-thirds of whom are women. Biden has also committed to implementing policies to end gender-based workplace discrimination and providing crucial benefits to workers at every major life stage.

DONALD TRUMP: 👎🏽

Donald Trump is anti-union, does not support raising the minimum wage, and the pay gap between men and women within his administration has tripled.

Our Families Are Supported.

We are no longer forced to make
impossible and unfair choices between
family and work. Providing the best
care for our families, from infancy to
old age, is possible and affordable for
all of us.

JOE BIDEN: 👍🏽

Joe Biden is committed to prioritizing the needs of families, caregivers, and reuniting families that have been separated as a result of Trump’s immigration policies.

DONALD TRUMP: 👎🏽

Donald Trump continues to put our families in danger. Under his leadership, the United States remains the only industrialized nation that does not provide paid parental leave.

Our Government Represents Us.

From the school board to the
White House, women are represented.
The right to vote is protected and
promoted, all voters have access
to the polls and every vote is counted.

JOE BIDEN: 👍🏽

Joe Biden has committed to having a woman Vice President on the ticket, has promised to strive for gender parity in his administration, and will work to implement voter protection policies.

DONALD TRUMP: 👎🏽

Donald Trump was charged with impeachment, has appointed twice as many men as women, and continues to make it harder for people to vote.

The Super Rule.

The lives and experiences of
women–particularly women
of color–are front and center
in addressing all of our nation’s
challenges. From climate change
to immigration to criminal
justice reform, the people most
impacted must be at the
forefront of the solutions.

JOE BIDEN: 👍🏽

Joe Biden’s record and plans for his administration demonstrate his commitment to centering the issues that affect women of color such as paid family leave, the maternal mortality rate, livable wages, and voter protection.

DONALD TRUMP: 👎🏽

Donald Trump is determined to repeal any progress we have made for women of color in this country and has used rhetoric that is not only racist and misogynistic, but also endangers women of color and their families.

Joe Biden’s Plans Demonstrate A Commitment To The Majority Rules. Trump’s Relentless Attack On Women, Particularly Women Of Color, Is Harmful and Unacceptable He Has Failed This Country.

To Learn More, Select A Rule Below.

Our lives are safe.

We live free of fear, intimidation and violence at home, at work and in our neighborhoods—no matter where we're from, who we love or how we identify.

  • Joe Biden is a longtime advocate for ending violence against women and he plans to expand on the original Violence Against Women Act to keep women safe and protect their civil rights.
  • He has committed to passing common sense gun safety legislation, including legislation that will help keep guns out of the hands of convicted domestic violence abusers and address the deadly combination of guns and domestic violence.
  • He will support legislation to keep women safe in the workplace by making it easier for them to take their sexual harassers to court and implement crucial workplace protections so that no one suffers from harassment or assault at work.

Our bodies are respected.

The health care system takes our needs seriously, from treatment to research to women making decisions about if and when to start a family.

  • Joe Biden will ensure crucial protections (such as birth control provided free of cost) under Affordable Care Act remain in place while expanding on Obamacare to eventually provide quality affordable healthcare for everyone.
  • He will ensure Roe v. Wade remains the law of the land even if struck down by a partisan Supreme Court and repeal the discriminatory Hyde amendment.
  • He will restore federal funding for Planned Parenthood.
  • He will provide funding for data collection and resources to combat our dangerously high maternal mortality rate that disproportionately affects women of color.

  • Donald Trump has repeatedly tried to block access to healthcare by dismantling Obamacare.
  • He has appointed justices who would overturn Roe v. Wade and explicitly pledged that is his goal. These justices have also repeatedly ruled against women’s right to make decisions about their health. He has also appointed more than 200 judges to the federal judiciary — many of whom have demonstrated blatant disregard of reproductive rights.
  • He has made misogynistic and disparaging comments about women’s appearance.
  • He was the first sitting president to speak at the anti-abortion “March for Life.”

Our work is valued.

We are paid equally for our work and get promoted equally too.The jobs primarily done by women—from teaching to caregiving—are valued and supported. All women can retire with dignity and enjoy the life they worked hard for.

  • Joe Biden introduced a plan that addresses affordable childcare, homecare for the elderly and disabled, and fair wages for caregivers.
  • He will roll back Trump immigration policies that separate families and require asylum seekers to remain in dangerous situations while they await their hearings. Biden will also work to protect DACA, which Trump has continually threatened.
  • He believes that the United States should guarantee 12 weeks of paid family leave for all workers.

  • Since taking office, Donald Trump has passed the Muslim Ban, rolled back asylum protections, separated families at the border, and threatened DACAall of which have put families in danger of never seeing each other again.
  • Trump’s suggestions for a paid family policy do not provide additional funds for paid family leave, do not cover care for sick family members, and do not protect a worker’s job if they decide to take leave.

Our government represents us.

From the school board to the White House, women are represented. The right to vote is protected and promoted, all voters have access to the polls and every vote is counted.
