Statement by Supermajority Executive Director Amanda Brown Lierman on the Resignation of Governor Andrew Cuomo

Plan to Engage Women Launches Today in Several States Where Women are Suffering

New York: Today, Supermajority Executive Director Amanda Brown Lierman released the following statement on the resignation of Andrew Cuomo as Governor of New York:

“Enough is enough. Workplaces filled with misogyny, denigration and any forms of sexual harassment will no longer be tolerated or swept under the rug. Governor Cuomo’s behavior was inexcusable and created an environment where women were disrespected and made to fear retaliation and for their jobs.  It is past time that we hold accountable anyone who creates a hostile and unsafe workplace, no matter their title or years of public service.

Cuomo’s resignation today is the latest step in breaking down the status quo to fundamentally shift how women are treated and how survivors’ voices are elevated. It is fitting that the next Governor of New York will be a woman, who can restore integrity to the Governor’s office and continue to advance policies and practices that put women first.”
