Supermajority Reacts To The Vice Presidential Debate

Plan to Engage Women Launches Today in Several States Where Women are Suffering

New York, NY – Following tonight’s vice presidential debate between U.S. Senator Kamala Harris and Vice President Mike Pence, Supermajority released the following statement:

“Tonight, the American people heard a clear contrast between Senator Harris and Vice President Pence’s vision for our country including how they will lead Americans out of the pain and suffering experienced over the last several months.

“At a time when women are experiencing multiple crises at once, they want leaders who have actual plans to end the COVID-19 pandemic, combat rampant racial injustice, and protect their healthcare. Women have seen first-hand the results of a negligent COVID-19 pandemic response. It has killed more than 211,000 people, has cost nearly 30 million Americans their jobs, and taken children out of school – leaving them and their parents to fend for themselves.

“As head of the White House’s Coronavirus Task Force, Pence refused to take responsibility for the failures of the Administration, whose actions have been devastating to our country, especially for women and women of color. Under the Trump-Pence administration we have seen a regression in the gains women have made over the past decades: from affordable health care, to equal pay, to racial justice and the right to vote.

“We are 27 days away from the final votes being cast this election cycle and more than 4 million people have already voted. Supermajority is working to mobilize two million women, ensuring that young women, women of color, and women in key states are inspired to vote between now and November 3. Women are the majority of voters, every issue that matters to women is on the ballot, and there is too much at stake to sit on the sidelines.”
