Harris and Walz must center the priorities of young women, who are powerful and critical members of the women’s voting bloc.
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Vice President Kamala Harris announced that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz will be her running mate in the 2024 presidential election. In response to the news, Taylor Salditch, executive director of Supermajority, issued the following statement
“Young women voters have the power to decide the 2024 election—much like they did in 2018 when they elected Tim Walz governor of Minnesota. As governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz made the issues important to young women—including economic well-being and reproductive freedom—priorities. We hope that Vice President Harris and Governor Walz will prioritize discussing their plans to address the issues that matter most to young women as running mates over the next 91 days.
New research, released by Supermajority Ed Fund, shows that young women expect elected leaders to take action on rising costs and to support policies that will ensure the economic well-being of themselves, their families, and their communities. We expect that Tim Walz will not only hear these priorities but center them as he and Kamala Harris deliver their vision of a country where all people are truly equal.”
