Supermajority Applauds Kansas Vote to Protect Abortion Access

1 min readAugust 3, 2022

Washington, D.C. – In response to Kansas voting to protect abortion rights in its state constitution, Supermajority Executive Director Amanda Brown Lierman issued the following statement:

“The people of Kansas have spoken, and we are thrilled they have voted to protect abortion rights in their state constitution. This is a major victory not just for the people of Kansas, but for women and people who need abortions all over the country. This win embodies what the supermajority of voters, women, can do when we stand up and turn out together.

“Kansas voters last night fought back for all of us. It has long been known that the majority of Americans support abortion access. And now, everyone will know when abortion is on the ballot, we the people will vote to protect it. This win is proof.

“Our win in Kansas is not the end, however. Even when a state amendment is not on the ballot, abortion access is at risk in any state led by anti-choice politicians. The lesson we should take away is that we are powerful when we vote. We must continue to rally, organize, and turn out in our primaries and on November 8. This is the year we will make our elected officials feel the power of the supermajority.”
